Warmest Holiday Wishes

Greetings once again from Sunny Florida. I cannot believe another year has passed. Each year seems to bring new adventures. Particularly in parenting. Jordan has developed the most amazing eye roll. Thankfully, she is a great teacher as she seems to have taught this art to both Garrett and Ayden.

Jordan turned 7 this month. It amazes us how much she has changed in the course of a year. She is strong willed... yet gullible. Outgoing... yet stubborn. Athletic and daring... yet timid at times. She is a true Tom Boy.

Garrett is turning 5 this month and is looking forward to starting

kindergarten next year. Garrett is savvy and smart.... yet a whiner and will cry at the drop of a hat. He will go on ANY and ALL of the rides at the park... yet is afraid of his own shadow (convinced their are monsters AND Gorillas in the house) He likes school... yet given the choice would rather spend the day with me..... Regardless of what I am doing. He is a fantastic swimmer and rode his bike early... yet when playing soccer would rather pick flowers or spin and lives for the water breaks.

Ayden turned 3 in September and has mastered several new skills over the past year. She too is strong willed and stubborn... yet is the first to demand snuggle time and has determined that she is a REAL princess (often calling herself Ariel or Princess Ayden) She is high maintenance and girly (neither of which we know what to do with)... yet will spend hours playing catch and seems to have some potential. She loves school... yet thinks she runs the place. One of the reasons why we call her The Boss. It is a good thing she is so cute!

Chris and I love our life here and feel so blessed having the love and support of our family and friends in our life.

November 2009 Update...

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving celebrating it with my parents and the Carr family. November has kick started us into holiday gear.

The tree went up and as quickly as that happened arrived a new guest. Harold. Harold is an elf. He sits on our shelf and keeps track of the kids behavior. He reports back to Santa nightly and returns in a new spot the next morning. (Yep, kind of like the perpetual tooth fairy... a true dream for a parent) We had no idea how useful this was going to be and must admit, we have noticed a tremendous improvement in attitude. Santa sure has some power in this house.

We celebrate two birthdays this upcoming month. Garrett turns five on December 18th and Jordan turns 7 on December 14th. So December takes on whole new meaning for the Carey household. This year we took the kids to Disney to celebrate. We were able to do the Very Merry Christmas party at the Magic Kingdom. We didn't make such a great decision upon arrival when we decided to ride the Pirates of the Caribbean. Ayden never fully recovered and I spent the better part of the next two hours going round and round on the merry go round. In the end though, she rallied and it was a fantastic family weekend.

We are starting to get use to decorating palm trees for the holidays and must admit, appreciate the warmer weather this time of year. I can easily get the smell of pine through a candle but miss the days of wearing moon boots and snow ball fights.

This time of year is truly magical and we are definitely grateful for the life we have and those that are in it...

Happy Thanksgiving!
