We mostly spend our days cleaning out the new house and exploring our new town… It is surprising to realize just how much you don’t miss things when you don’t have them available. None the less, each box opened feels like Christmas. We are finding things we thought were lost forever.
Our town is not that big. In fact, it is so small, there is not even a Dunkin Donuts in it. I think it is the only town in New England that doesn’t house a DD. I am actually surprised that Chris talked me into living here without one. None the less, there is a local eatery that serves breakfast all day long (among other things) and great slushies. This is also where our local post office and bank is located. Pretty small town stuff.
We typically find ourselves at the beach at some point during each day… on our first trip, we followed a Blimp to the water with the Red Sox logo. The spirit of Boston is everywhere and that blimp seems to be at the beach every time we are there…
Downtown Newburyport
It has been so nice living closer to Chris’s side of the family. The kids are out on a whale watching tour with Chris’s Aunt Nancy & Uncle Mike while I had a doctors appt. I love sitting on shore with my coffee and taking in all the sites. I could get use to living here!
While returning to the states and moving up the East coast a ways… the kids were really excited to be near the ocean again. I wish I had their first plunge on video. I have never seen kids so excited to be in the water, only to scream and bolt right out as if a nasty joke had been played on them. After spending a few afternoons at one of our favorite beaches, Garrett & Ayden asked if we could go to the “warm” beach tomorrow. It is hard to believe that the same body of water that we dip our toes in - in Florida and South Carolina could be THIS much colder here.
So we quickly figured out ways to entertain ourselves on the beach that doesn’t require getting in the water or produces enough sweat that make the water somewhat refreshing.
This summer, we are mastering The Cartwheel and the Flip!
And each day the cartwheel takes it form… and we continue to practice!
A great day had by all!!!
There are many farms along the winding New England roads. This is one of our favorite stops on the way home from our beach. They sell the best apple pies and cider.
It’s been a long time since we have attended a small town parade. We found this parade on the streets of Newburyport!
Friends of ours up’d our cartwheel practice by burying a ball and using it as a trampoline! This took our cartwheel to new heights and we added "the flip" to our sand tricks!
While the Atlantic is a lot colder up here… it sure feels good to have our toes in the sand again!
