June Days!

We are slowly wrapping up a school year with many extra make up days… what better way to enjoy the warmer weather then with a color run!

Enjoying our town and learning a bit of culture a long the way… We are walking the Freedom Trail and the kids were a bit confused as to how the horses could get through with all the traffic (Ummmm)

Our tour of Boston would not be complete without a swing through China town.

Bringing back some great memories of our times in China…

But by far the BEST day is our first family day to the beach…

If Garrett were a dog, he would definitely be a Golden Retriever!

We were lucky enough to have the kids cousin Althea with us visiting…

We loved having her as a part of our family… even for a short time!

She totally blended right in perfectly and caught on quickly to our crazy.

Behind every amazing kid is an amazing father… and a mother who is always on guard to capture the moment.

Last Day of School: June 26th

Last day of 2nd, 6th & 4th

Last day of school… Some good bye’s are harder then others. Peanut was one of Ayden’s classmates and unfortunately, they will not be in the same class next year.

I am holding on tight to these moments… Being the youngest, I don’t take one bus stop, lunch packed, one long singing concert for granted. Ayden is my constant reminder that I am one year closer to the teenage years.

Ayden’s last day of school was full of fun activities… including a BBQ, open house and a mile run.

The Best way to kick of our true summer… is Cranes Beach!!

Took my sister and her oldest son, Jake, into Boston to show them some culture. We walked the freedom trail right into Urban Outfitters!

We finished off their weekend visit celebrating Ayden’s first communion.

And even hit Crane’s beach before labor day — and dove into the frigid water!

Slowly counting down until the last day of school. With all of the snow days, we are in school until June 26th!!

May 23rd — Each year on my birthday my best and only gift I want is to do something adventurous with my family. This year we decided that since we live so close to my favorite mountain range, we were going to hike Mt. Washington! Our traditional hiking lunches are peanut butter fluff sandwiches…

Up and out early, we hit the trail head. We had our doubts that Trixie (Ayden) would make it very far. What a surprise that not only did she MAKE it to the top, but she talked the ENTIRE way. It was an absolutely perfect day!!! Ending with a bloody mary at Horsefeathers. LIFE is good!!!

 

We knew it was early in the year to be hiking on Mt. Washington but were surprised by the amount of snow and ice on the trail. It had snowed the night before and there was a coating of ice on the rocks as we gained elevation. Made for a tough trip but my crew stayed together and worked thru it.

My best pal has the same quest for adventure as I do. Life is never dull with him by my side.

Due to the snow and ice (and high wind) we decided to end our journey at the Lake of the Clouds hut. Unfortunately it was too early in the year to be open so we didn’t get the hot chocolate we were craving at that point in the day. Now that I know that hiking runs in our blood… I am already planning our next hiking adventure on the knife edge. Katahdin, ME! (The end of the Appalachian trial)

This was one of my top 10 days ever!! Embracing the moment!!

The April Thaw (2015)

So the snow is still lingering but the air is getting a little warmer… Are we finally coming out of the record breaking winter season??? I honestly wonder just how long the snow will be lingering. (Note added 7/15/15 - the last official snow melted in Boston… really??)

We are fed up and want our backyard back!!!

Evenings still cold and chance of flurries… but no worries, we brought a bit of our Shanghai culture home with us and we have home: mani/pedi’s, massage & hair styling. Digging deep for indoor winter fun. I will never tire of their creativity or their massages.

Arts & Crafts: Even Dad got involved in the jewelry making!

Once spring break hit though… We were out-a here! Heading SOUTH to the sun. It will be a nice to soak of the Vitamin D rather then swallow it.
