MOVE IN Month... Finally! Busy February 2019!

Our temporary housing was walking distance to both the Stoneman Douglas High School and West Glades Middle School. The kids loved being able to sleep in until the very last minute and I will miss my morning walk with Bella and Jordan to school. We are however so eager to move into our new house and to have our own space. The kids have been sharing a room for a couple of months now… it has gotten OLD!

There isn’t a day that goes by that we do not remember the 17 people killed …
This statue sits in the main court yard at the High School.

The Day has FINALLY come!!! We are moving out of our condo and our moving truck will arrive from Boston!

Not as many pictures to post this month. We have been been BUSY! This move in particular has been challenging. We went from having a full basement as a storage spot to no basement and no attic. This is going to need some serious organization and a healthy dose of cleaning OUT!
This may just take us forever!

BEFORE

AFTER

We did manage to take a break from unpacking and drove the Cheng Jiang over to the local Farmers Market.

Love the access to this!

Bella a bit overwhelmed by all the inside commotion of the move and opticals retreated to the back yard for some peace and quiet.

Finding the new bus stop… Love being back in this weather!
February and a tank top!

January 2019

It was a hard kick off to 2019.  Our first family photo was at my Moms funeral.
I spent New Year’s Eve watching the sunset with my Dad and spent New Year’s Day making arrangements to celebrate my Moms memory.    Family and friends were coming into town and I was trying to figure out my new normal.

Desciak Family

My Moms favorite day of the week since starting dialysis was Sunday.   Fitting that she died on her favorite day.   She loved Sundays because it was the only two days in a row that she did not have dialysis.   My Dad made blueberry pancakes every Sunday morning…   We continue the tradition.

Once back at our temp housing, I got the kids off on their school schedule and Bella and I are starting to pack up our things to move into our house in February. I feel like life is a blur.

Can you tell what a huge help she is?

Garrett is starting off his application process early in the season at Publix. These jobs are pretty competitive. He will have to find the confidence to check in with the manager every few weeks. Still cannot believe that I have two kids old enough to work!

Love our evenings at the beach… and getting back on our beach routine.

I am so lucky to have the partner that I do…

And the solid gold team that I am on!

Happy 2019

Heaviest of Heart - My Amazing Mom

There is absolutely nothing that prepares you ever to say goodbye to your Mom.  The pain in your heart is debilitating.  For those that knew her, she was the perfect combination of strict, fun, loyal and truly the best listener and advice giver.  I talked to my Mom pretty much every day.   She was truly my rock.
When I struggled to become a mother, she stood by my side and supported all of our crazy attempts to become parents.   She never even flinched when I told her that we were adopting from Russia.   She worried about us traveling, but knew that nothing was going to stop us from bring our family home.
My parents were at the airport all three times we landed and our children became US citizens.
I miss her every single day…  Everyone deserves to have the kind of love I had from my Mom.

One more angel in the shape of my mom has her wings spread wide and is flying high - pain free and unencumbered in heaven today. It is hard to put into words how heavy my heart is in writing this. She was the foundation of my days. We talked daily and people often commented that when they saw me out running, I was always laughing and talking on the phone -- it was always to her. Even when she wasn't feeling the best the past few months she ALWAYS picked up.
We are grateful to have 79 wonderful years with her but truly nothing prepares you for letting go. Fly high Mom... we miss you so so so much!! You will live on in us forever!

We had a beautiful memorial for my Mom and the church was packed.   She would have felt so amazing.  Her best friends showed up from all over and it was so wonderful to be around people that cared so much for her.   The day after the memorial, we decided to head to the beach for sunset.   It was by far the best way for our family to wrap up our weekend.   It gave us a some time to process, reminisce and to be together as a family.

My Dad was quiet…
He lost his High School sweet heart.
Married 47 years!

It was pretty cool at the beach - we warmed up at a fire pit off the beach and spent the evening sharing amazing memories…

We will always have our angel looking over us all!
