Ahoy there May...

May was a jam packed month full of fun and some very special occasions. We started off the month with mothers day. I was convinced I was getting a ripstick but was told by Chris that I was too old. We celebrated the day with a few of Chris's childhood friends and our families.

Shortly thereafter, Jordan graduated from her preschool class and is enjoying officially calling herself a kindergartner. The class put on a concert for us and for the first time, we could actually hear her sing! She has really grown up a lot this year. When we left the graduation I overheard her telling Garrett that she will be riding a big bus next year to school. I told her that I would drive her the first few days of school if she wanted... until she gets used to it. She put her hand on my arm and pulled me down to meet her eyes and said, "mom, I can do this, you will be just fine." It seems like just yesterday Jordan was standing in the middle of the soccer field hysterically crying... now she is begging us to play. She received her first trophy last night and it stands this morning by her bedside. She has already asked Chris to make her a shelf to put all of her future trophies on, because, "there will be AAAA LOT!"

Our next adventure was off to Disney. My children give me a trip to Disney for my birthday each year. I am sure there are no ulterior motives behind it, but what better way to spend my birthday then seeing the smiles on their faces. We ALL dressed up as pirates for the Magic Kingdoms Pirates and Princess party. (note we had no princesses) The only one on the fence was Garrett. The park was not crowded and we were able to get on all the rides without the wait. We had a blast. I think Chris heard enough of my whining about the ripstick that I actually got one for my birthday!! Jordan is learning to ride and keeps telling me how cool I am for knowing how. I am relishing in her comments as I know there are days to come that I will be far from cool.

We are wrapping up school and ready for summer. Jordan is already gearing up her social calendar and Garrett is right there beside her begging for play dates. Ayden is just happy with a perpetual supply of snacks, love, kisses and tickles. She is in constant motion and loves to be chased. Her laughter penetrates our house and keeps us all with smiles on our faces.

Our newest walker...

Well, we have hit a new milestone and it is a big one. Ayden started walking a couple of weeks ago. We aren't sure if she did this on her own free will or because we gave her a Jenny Craig ultimatum. Needless to say, she looks a lot like Chris after a few Jameson's. She would stay up longer on her feet if she could walk without belly laughing. She gets herself laughing so hard, she tips right over. Her feet are in constant motion as if she is walking on stilts. It is so funny to watch.

She has made great strides in the past 6 months with us. We are working on her talking a bit more. We will be relieved when her vocabulary broadens beyond "DA!!!" Even though this is her only word, she uses it often and very loudly and for the most part gets
her way. While Garrett talks non stop, Ayden is by far the loudest. I guess she is eager to be heard. She has added so much to our family.

April April April.....

We spent part of our spring break visiting my parents. The kids enjoyed the beach and searching for shells and shark teeth with Pop Pop. We had been working on Ayden walking... as a result, she became quite stubborn and would lay down in the sand and not move. People were actually walking over her. I think she would have fallen asleep if we had let her. Well... we got her to walk... finally.

We have been enjoying the warmer weather and are counting down the days for summer vacation. We have a few fun short trips planned and we cannot wait to have the time off to play.
